I am a highly qualified tutor because of my love for teaching, along with my life and school experiences. I hold a New York State (NYS) Permanent certification in English (7-12) and a NYS Professional certification in Spanish (7-12). Spanish is my native language. I enjoy working with young adults. I have taught at many different schools and subjects. Some of those schools included the acclaimed Townsend Harris High School, Newfield High School in Selden, The Wheatley School in Westbury, and most recently Long Island Lutheran Middle & High School. Spanish, Language Arts, English, Writing Process and Linguistics, Mythology, and Intro to Foreign Language are some of the subjects I have taught. I am a member of AATSP (American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese). With this distinction, I am able to offer my students the chance to take the National Spanish Exam. The results from their efforts have been amazing -- twenty-two National Medal Winners and forty-five others who achieved Honorable Mentions. I believe in bringing Spanish completely into the classroom, from the first day to the final day of the school year. This gives the students a fun learning experience while learning a new language. I combine traditional and innovative techniques so that my students are excited to come to class and learn. I believe that they should know the beauty and intricacies of the written word through aesthetic education (visual arts, dance, music, or drama). This allows the individuals to be creative and freely express themselves. This freedom to express brings joy and opens them up to learning even more. I graduated from Hunter College with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in History and English. I then graduated summa cum laude from Queens College with a master's degree in Education, majoring in English and Spanish.
